Mpumi’s career started in Los Angeles and went on to dedicate a great deal of her time in the South African music business. She worked as a Label Manager for Ghetto Ruff and also served as a member of the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) steering committee, which is in charge of the South African Music Awards (SAMA). Mpumi Phillips has published articles regarding music clearance and music supervisory in Screen Africa a magazine which is a guide to filmmakers throughout Africa, as well as The Callsheet, a film industry guide. Mpumi has done music supervision for films and TV productions such as Rhythm City, Beyond the River, Babalas, iNumber Number and many more. Previously she managed the creative department at Sheer Publishing.

Vuyisile Mshudulu is the Director of Arts, Culture and Heritage in the City of Johannesburg. His areas of expertise include policy development, promotion and development of the Creative Industries. He has vast programme and project management experience in enterprise development and market access, both locally and internationally in the Creative Industries. Mshudulu plays a central role in coordinating the Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio of the City of Johannesburg, and he has been instrumental in stimulating strategic partnerships between the City and the industry. Mr Mshudulu was previously with the Department of Trade and Industry and Small Business Development where he served as the Deputy Director for Creative Industries and played a critical role in placing the Creative Industries as an important sector in the country’s industrial policy. Having been with the City for just over a year, Mshudulu is committed to systematically working towards the goal of making the City adequately responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Creative Industries.
